Two of my favorite parts of this song were cooked up in the recording process. One is the guitar “hook” in between each chorus, (which was initially played only once near the end of the song but Freddie suggested making it a repetitive hook) and second being the backup vocals during the guitar solo. They just feel like classic backup vocals, and I can’t really explain why. This song is not new, at all, but I think this version has the most teeth.
Also, I think that Aaron must have been a bass player in a past life. He offered excellent bass-centric ideas during the whole album recording process. In this song, he suggested a descending line in the choruses, which is so fun to play. The right kind of dissonance at the right time can be so satisfying.
